Seamless Interiors and Exteriors

As a hybrid interior design and architecture firm, Childs Architecture offers our clients a significant advantage. In this dual role, our Interior Designer has a keen awareness of the design concept that informs your architectural design.

Maintaining a sense of uniformity between the interior of your space and the exterior of your building is paramount for commercial brands seeking a cohesive physical presence.

Abiding by Code Requirements for Commercial Interiors

When it comes to interior design for commercial spaces, there are countless codes and restrictions that complicate the decision-making process. Building codes are detailed and extensive, and include regulations established by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the National Fire Protection Association, among others.

Our designer maintains up-to-date knowledge regarding the current building codes. We design interior spaces that are both legally safe and aesthetically pleasing.

What Makes Interior Design Different from Decorating?

Knowledge of building codes is one distinguishing factor between an interior designer and a decorator. However, the differences between these roles goes deeper than that.

To put it simply, decorators fill a space with decorative items. Interior Designers use their specialized training to develop spaces that function for their intended purpose.

A Collaborative Effort

The process that drives the selection of finishes is a collaborative one. In many cases, we create a finished Inspiration Board with samples of each of your finishes, so you can see and feel the samples and see how they look as one cohesive design.

Visitors who walk into your space are going to notice their surroundings and scrutinize. It’s human nature. Even in commercial spaces, clients often find that these decisions are personal and emotional. We listen to you and carefully arrive at decisions together, so you can feel confident with the final design.

Commercial Interior Design at Childs Architecture

There are several ways we can work with your interior spaces. Often, interior design is included in the contract for our architectural services. We can also work with another architect to supplement their services, or perform interior design as a stand-alone project.
